Aptitude test - suit or smart casual?

My brothers aptitude test is tomorrow and after enquiring about it, he is confused as to whether this is an interview or just a test. As such, he is not sure about his attire - suit or smart casual.

The lady on the phone explained that he will be given 1 hour but if he completes the test quicker then its over.

Im guessing smart casual as 1-2-1 type interviews are likely to be held based upon the results of the AT.

Its part of the interview process - albeit not a face to face interview, but nevertheless part of the process. So he should dress appropriately. Wear a suit but take the jacket off for the test? Or a jumper with the shirt and tie rather than a jacket? Perhaps not a proper suit but certainly more smart than smart/casual.

I always think that for any interview or meeting with prospective employers, if you're in any doubt what to wear and have no instructions to the contrary, then wear a suit.

Yes, It never matters if you are "Overdressed" just looks good & like you are making an effort but if you are "Under dressed" there's nothing you can do about it.
    If in doubt go smart!;)
  • Personally I wouldn't bother with the jacket; shoes, smart trousers, shirt and tie will suffice.

Fell free to loosen the tie and undo the top button, you perform better feeling relaxed plus nobody will judge you doing that for a 1 hour aptitude test.
  • Thanks chaps but I dont think he wants to get ripped on for wearing a suit to a test. Instead he has opted for:

    White shirt
    Blue tie
    Navy Blue grandad sweater vest
    Navy blue suit pants
    Black shoes
    Simpsons Socks and boxer set
