Selling Information on Ebay - Good Idea???

I was looking for idea around dropshipping although my kowledge is limited. I did however come up with a different idea. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
I noticed people were paying £70/80/90 for a New complete box set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I know a big online retailer doing it for £59.99
The scope in dropshipping is small for this when the fee's are taken into account, but.....is it posssible to sell the information.
E.g. I list a complete buffy boxset. Explain clearly what i'm upto in my listing and charge a 99p buy-it-now for the information (full refund for anything thats wrong). To tell them where the best price is?
Is this allowed on ebay?
And is it a good idea?

I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

I think you are looking at all sort of headaches in doing so in general (ie if shop pulls deal before they have a chance to purchase), or newbie buyers thinking they're actually buying the DVD
Besides..... I think they've re-released it at a lower RRP (Published 3/10/11) which is currently on offer in a lot of places , Play for example are selling seasons1-7 at £49.99.0 -
um, i agree with that. Was a little unsure with the idea, thats why I wanted other opinions. thankyou

It 'can' work if you can find a niche, although difficult these days..
I did so accidentally just before my honeymoon in 2004, I'd bought a snorkel, mask and flippers set for my wife from Lidl for £7.99, they didn't fit, so rather than take them back I put them on eBay, we were getting quite excited when they reached £35........ So the next day I went and bought some more

I did find a niche. The sharpe box set was selling at £25 when the Zavvi shops were closing down. Sold them on ebay and amazon for £50 plus.
Made over £1k which was great as it was christmas and I was unemployed. Hoping to repeat the event and strayed into this idea.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -

I give info for free not charge people for privileged I might need money myself but I have morals0 -
One caveat is that you can't list such information in the normal Ebay product categories, it has to go in the Other Items Information category, where it will be seen by far fewer people.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

As stated in Op there would be a full refund if the information was incorrectm (and I would have some sort of statement explaining this clearly) as everything was going to be clear and above board.
I have morals thank you very much. I don't see anything imorral about it. I would have been clear about what I was doing.
I don't think you would classify dropshipping as imorral when thats a more deceptive plan. but then again, i don't think there is anything wrong with that.
If my friends ask, i would perform out of love. But selling information clearly and correctly to a buyer that understands whats happening isn't morally wrong. People sell all sorts of info in all sorts of ways (e.g. books) Whould you classify comparison sites as morally wrong? they get paid for directing your traffic by gaining your customer through information they provide.Owain_Moneysaver wrote: »One caveat is that you can't list such information in the normal Ebay product categories, it has to go in the Other Items Information category, where it will be seen by far fewer people.
Thats what I was thinking. I was woundering if it was allowed at all otherwise i'm sure somebody would have done it before my ideaI get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -

Not the best information though...... as I stated in the post above Play are selling it for £49.99. DVD prices isn't something I'd pay for, but your post does sort of show that in principle paying for information can be good, ie if I were to sell information people would save close to 10% vs. your 'freebie'.
Of course personally I wouldn't look at buying information other than from an IFA or Mortgage Advisor in certain circumstances.0 -

True. My example was a 'quick look' not a very well researched product. Just something I spotted with potential which led me to the idea.
I was looking at win win. I get 99p and they save however much.
ohh, which now just makes me think of being a personal shopper!!! Somebody you could ask, find this at the cheapest price and they go off and do it.
How good would that be for christmas.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -

Sorry.... My last comment was directed at Never in Debt, giving away the price of £54.93 to friends, just commenting that you 'could' sell details of a £49.99 price and everyone would win, although not something I'd personally go for.0
