M& s cake question

Morning guys, quick question that I hope someone can answer me....Looking at the m& s wedding cakes they give the sizes of each cake and also the suggested servings that each cake should do. Now gicen the cakes are same size regardless of whether it is fruit or sponge...how come the servings differ?? the fruit cake seems to serve more than the sponge...yet the cake will be the same size ? ? ? :o:o

You wouldn't have a slice of fruit cake the same size. Because fruit cake is more dense you don't eat as much of it, and people expect a smaller slice. Hth.

:rotfl: unless you're me! I LOVE fruit cake. In fact I'm thinking of making the Christmas cake this week, so I can eat it and make another.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • yeah fruitcake goes further because its more dense and rich,
people want a bigger slice of sponge cake :)

  • I bought my wedding cakes from M&S. I went for the sponge one (made a 3 tier as it was buy 2 get the smaller tier free) and the cake was gorgeous! I dressed mine with ribbon from John Lewis, Diamante buckles from a cake suppliers and fresh flowers. I think the total cost was around £90
Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.
