60th Birthday treat - any ideas?

Options
I am looking for ideas for my Mums 60th birthday coming up shortly but with a limited budget. I know she doesn't need or want a gift so I wondered about an experience day? Spa or cookery, rather than something too physical. Or maybe a boat trip? I'm not sure whats out there and I'm so far not finding anything on trip advisor or Discover NI that appeals.

Any help or ideas would be very much appreciated. I'm prepared to travel anywhere in NI.

  • What about a year's National Trust membership which would give your mum free access to their properties for the whole year.

Hi This is not a day out experience but what about doing her a "This is your life" book. I did one for my husband for his 40th. I had great fun doing it and he did enjoy looking through it. Is is ok lovely to pass around. I had a couple of pages for his friends to write something. You could also try and find old friends too. Good luck I hope you find something x

But I guess with your user name you don't qualify! :rotfl::rotfl:
  • we did a few things for my dad's birthday which actually cost very little but meant the world to him.

Firstly we got all the grandchildren together and drove round Belfast to the places he was born, grew up etc, went to school and filmed the kids talking in each spot and then they talked about their memories of the grandad growing up (some of them quite llimited as theyre quite small!!)

He's also a big sweetie eater so we decorated a box and got 60 bars and boxes of chocs (didn't take him long to munch through them)

I would also recommend Albelli photoalbum (I got a deal on MSE and made one up for free and personalised it-looked great) or you could do a nice canvas picture of all the family?

Hope this has given some ideas!
  • For my mum's 65th we took her to the Merchant Hotel for afternoon tea. It's not very MSE but it did make her day special and the cakes.....sublime!
