Help with invite wording

Hi everyone, we are just getting our invites done and we are stuck on how to word a part of it,
We are buying the booze for the reception as there is no bar at our venue however there is a limit to what we are buying and we are asking people to bring their own bottle as well.
Any ideas on how we could word this we want to tell people in a polite way that there is no bar etc,
we currently have "FIRST FEW DRINKS ON US SO FEEL FREE TO BRING YOUR OWN BOTTLE"
any other ideas? thanks in advance

I think that sounds fine, or how about Limited bar, BYOB
Just make a point of saying to people when you are handing out the invites, that way if they don't understand what the invite means, you have told them :-)Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Also think that's fine - though just to clarify, are you providing enough for X drinks per person or are you just doing X for free and then charging after that?
A lot of supermarkets etc will do sale or return on wine so you could always buy more then return what you don't use. However if you want your guests to have the choice of bringing their own then I think your wording is absolutely fine (and a great idea!).0 -
Thanks guys
Lavendyr - we have bought loads of wine and are also buying the beers and spirits etc, we have still to work out exactly what quantities to buy. we dont want people spending silly bar prices so we thought we would provide the drink but there is obviously going to be a limit to what we can afford, therefore we thought it might be best to say to folk to bring a bottle or a few extra beers etc, hope this makes sense lol0 -
I'd probably be a little more explicit about it...something like:
"Please note: There is no bar at the reception venue. Whilst we'll be providing a few drinks, please feel free to bring along anything else you fancy."0 -
thanks for all input, Idiophreak we liked your one as it was right to the point and explained the no bar thing so we tweaked it and went with
THERE IS NO BAR AT THE VENUE SO THE FIRST FEW DRINKS ARE ON US BUT FEEL FREE TO BRING YOUR OWN BOTTLE
thanks again for everyones input0
