Bonsibabe's Bumblings!

Ok here goes ... after being totally inspired by Gargrave and Skint But Optimistic I have decided to track my debt free progress on here in a sort of diary form. Mostly it will involve a lot of ranting about my OH as he is properly useless with money:o

So here we are. Our joint debts (the ones I am sorting out) are as follows:

Lloyds TSB (Loan) - £7500

Lloyds TSB (Overdraft) - £3500

Intelligent Finance (Loan) - £5500

Comes to a total of £16500:eek:

I also have a catalogue debt of around £2500 but most of this belongs to my dad:D and as this is being covered every month then I am not really wanting to include this.

OH has now had a demand for another £3800 from his former employer regarding tied housing which we are properly disputing as it should be around half of what it is but they are making up stuff to try and get extra money out of us:mad: But not including this as it is OH's debt and has no connection with me ATM.

So my journey is to pay off the joint debts and then tackle the rest of it.
LBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:
Current debt levels: OD £3860, Loan 1 £6091, Loan 2 £5052, Parents £260, Total £16133  As at 01 May 2012 - 51.69% paid off :j

First thing is first ... I have written to the credit agencies today and will send off the £2 tomorrow to request MY credit file ... I want to make sure that my old CC from before I got married is off my credit file etc ... it will be scrutinised to within an inch of its life!

I also have a very snotty letter to send to the Tax Credits Office ... over the last couple of years they have deducted around £1800 in "overpayments" from me. I have it in writing that these overpayments were classed as an official error and were written off but they have yet to refund me the money that I am owed. I could be using that to offer lloyds a F&F on my overdraft debt.

If I get it back I plan to offer lloyds the £1000 as a F&F on the overdraft and using the rest to fund a bloody good christmas for my kids ... we have been scrimping all year to make ends meet and I think they deserve it (I think I do too but that's beside the point!).

If I could do this it would wipe £3500 of debt straight away and leave me free to concentrate on the two big ones. I may just write to Lloyds if I get the money and try to get the two debts with them lowered as they knew our situation and continued to add interest etc even after we asked them to stop ... they kept this going for about a year until they passed the debt on to their own in-house DCA who have been fantastic TBH.

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:LLoyds:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Today's priority is to photograph as much as possible and get it all listed on Ebay ... got loads of s***e lying around so need to get rid of it .. not enough room in the house for it all:D

OH also has loads of kit lying around from when he was in the army ... for some reason he didn't want to get rid of it but he has now agreed that I can sell it and use the money to save up so that we can start looking at F&Fs for the debts ... OMG I will be so glad to see the back of some of that carp:j

So today's Plan A - list as much carp on Ebay as is humanly possible!!!!!

Plan B is to get as much rubbish in the bin as possible as well!!!!

I am woman ... hear the bin lid going!!!!!

Right I have listed 15 old magazines that someone may want ... all for the bargain price of £1.50 ... with £1.50 postage as it costs me to go to the post office and I will have to pay out for envelopes and postage etc ... away to find the rest of the mags, take pics and list ... as well as try to think of something for feeding the family with ... arg!

OH has reluctantly agreed to sell his electric guitar! It's only been sat round for a few years of not being used ... and promptly took a strop when i said the money would be used to pay debts!!!!! The bloomin cheek of it! It's ok for me to pay all the debts off but if he has to sell anything he should pocket the money! Seems to have forgotten the fact that I sold most of my gold jewellery to pay an electricity bill when we first moved in here and had nothing! Blooming ragin!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    Arg!

Couldn't find the rest of the star trek mags or my charmed mags so gonna have to list them for 99p to get them for free as not wanting to stay up all night looking for them!!!!

DD1 and DD2 came up with the bright idea of getting a van and selling food!!!! Bless their little hearts for trying to think of ways to save up to buy the house:T:T:T:T But thankfully they are a little young to understand the whole debt repayment thing.

Just recently discovered woohoo bingo ... been playing it and the aim is to get loads of amazon vouchers next year from various sources that will pay for Christmas! I have a cute wee box that I am going to start saving all my vouchers in so that next Christmas I can get loads of cool stuff for free for pressies. Thankfully stocking gifts generally come from the pound shop ... although DD1 is starting to get into make up  ... she keeps eyeing my good stuff that i saved up for so thinking i will have to buy her some cheap stuff this year and hope for some free samples for next chrimbo to make her a really cool gift basket!

Although the kids did have a wonderful idea. They are making their own pressies for their teachers ... going to make more and put them on ebay see if we can get a wee bit of cash for very little outlay ... the costs will be

Card - free as we already have it in the house!

Ink - relatively free as we have it already

Lamination - very cheap as we have our own laminator so just have to buy the sheets

Feathers - should get a large bag cheaply enough from the craft shop

Going to try and make 500 on top of the ones we need for pressies and see if we can't make some good cash on ebay as the cards the kids have designed make lovely sentimental pressies!:T Yay for my girls! I am such a proud mummy :j:j:j:j

Hi Bonsi, good to see you around again. Sorry to hear the OH is still useless with money though. Hope you're all well (apart from the debts).

Hi scuba!!!!! Yeah back on here again but this time going to actually shift the debts!!! OH will never be good with cash i think so just got to bite the bullet and carry on regardless! Apart from the debts we are all fine. I'm working full time now ... although now that OH has a job I really want to cut my hours ... just got to find the right time to speak to the boss as I don't want to lose pay!!! I can do the same amount of work and still finish 2 hours early and I think I am worth the money he pays me but not too confident about keeping my pay rate! But apart from it all, am doin well. OH was finally diagnosed with PTSD so at least we have something to work with now ... on tablets for it but still a ways to go!

How are you doing? Been ages! x

I'm good, relocated to Surrey/Hants borders and living with my pet male, working in a shop which I hate but looking for a decent job again, hoping I can find something before he deploys next year. Am hoping that it won't kick off his PTSD again though, as he seems to be on the good side of it at the moment - esp as this time around he refused to take any drugs as they'd mean he's downgraded again.

Hope you can cut your hours and keep the salary def worth an ask if you can still get everything done!
