Your mission should you choose to accept it....

...is to suggest ways to help me get on top of £13,000 CC debt.
...How did it happen? High living? Fast cars? Exotic holidays? I wish! I drive an L-reg Citroen and last holiday was Cornwall 5 years ago (lovely place by the way). I don't smoke and rarely drink. Clothes (when bought) are Matalan/Primark/supermarket or second hand. No sky tv and I dont even use my mobile contract mins/texts! (PAYG when contract ends!) Even cut own hair!
Myself and GF have 4 kids between us (1 of our own) inc my other little boy who lives with his mum.

Some of the big things were:
£1800 for car for GF
£500 for nursery fees
£500 for laptop (which has just been dropped and had fatal heart attack (thanks luv)
£1000 CTax bill that I had to put on card (inc legal fees....just didnt have cash at the time...adopted ostrich position)
£550 Water bill (ditto above)
£600 repair bill for car last summer....BIG mistake. Should have just scrapped it but it has been so reliable for 6 years I felt weirdly loyal to it. (garage did thing of fixing something, then finding something else...) But if no MoT this year...sorry, car...
Also...impending furniture purchase to pay for in summer...£1500
Moving from really cheap house to here has sort of ruined repayment plan...would have saved (and used to pay back) £3000 AND avoided several of above bills. Argh. Made huge difference....

Does anyone have any idea of work that can be done at home??? Have signed up for the web survey sites but I think it would take several decades to pay back a 13K debt with those!! Cant do a second job because of kids...childcare would wipe it out as we have no friends or family within 70 miles. And our shifts are so variable that we couldn't commit to specific days etc.

Any ideas welcome.....

    Hiya there -welcome

the first place to start with problem debts is to do a statement of affairs ( SOA)

there may well be ways to cut back by finding cheaper providers or other such tips, but we can only advise once weve seen your SOA.

Best of luck with it all :D

    Hi Robin

    Well done on posting.

Would you be able to post a 'Statement of Affairs' (SOA) which is basically a list of your incomings and outgoings. Info on how to do this can be found here:

The first I would say is can you do without buying that furniture for £1500 this summer. It really is stuff you can't afford and you could try and get free/second hand furniture instead.

Post up an SOA and we'll take it from there.

    Regards
