hi everyone, looking for some advice please -
saw a pack of plain white ceramic mugs in argos this morning and i had bit of a light bulb moment...though its a energy saving bulb not shining bright yet as i am stuck on how to put the idea in motion! lol
is there a ceramic paint that children/babies are safe to use?
I want to be able to try and get my LO hand print on the mug and write a christmas message for her grandparents as its her first xmas and first granchild. I am sure have seen hand prints on plates etc from pottery places on TV. May not be easy or cheap, but just wondered if anyone had done or knew of a way to do so!

I use Pebeo 150 when I paint mugs etc. after 24hrs you bake it and it is then even dishwasher proof. Prior to being baked, 35 min in a domestic oven at 150 degrees, the paint can be washed off with just soap and water. I have used this with my grandchildren to paint mugs.
Hope this helpsNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
I did it with mine when only a year old or probably bit younger. I also used pebeo, it is water-based, so you wash it off fairly easy (as long as it doesnt dry). I found that on some mugs/plates the paint wore off quicker than others, not sure why -if it was the way I "baked" them or the actual surface we painted on. I would also only handwash.
I kept a bowl of soapy water and an old flannel & towel to hand to wash hands as soon as they were done0 -
The new porcelain painters don't require baking in the oven and they are dishwasher proof. I haven't tried them myself, but I spotted them on the Woolworths site the other day:

Baker Ross do ceramic pens, they come in lovely colours (especially the glitter ones) and are virtually mess free! I use them with kids at work and highly recommend them.0
