I'm a total newbie, so please forgive me if this has previously been answered!

I recently bought a new car, but to get a good deal on the price... I was tricked into taking a rip-off car finance package (am now feeling suitably shamed).

Does anyone know whether its possible to get out of these - eg pay off early with a good deal personal loan or credit card etc. without occuring high early payment penalties, if any

Or am I tied in to a nightmare package for 3 long years!!

Depends on how long ago you took out the finance, if it was less than 7 days then you should have a 'cooling off period' in the paper work in which to cancel with out penalty. Otherwise try complaining to the finance company direct that you were missold the policy that they did not explain the interest rate and penalties to you etc etc and that might work.

Failing that sometimes and be absolutely sure first!!!, you may find it is cheaper to pay the penalties because your new deal is cheaper in the longer term.
