3DS Games for Children?

Hi there

My son and daughter are getting a 3DS to share for Christmas. They are almost 8 and 5.

I have the 3DS, but need to get a couple of games to go with it. I have no real idea how this works - do I need to buy the little game cards? Can I download games? Where is the best (i.e. cheapest) place to go for them?

Much appreciated!

    i just asked him
he says most places are around the same for games just now and will be until at least after christmas as its so new
there may be a few offers on nearer the time as sony are releasing their new handheld, DS games usually hold their price though

he got a good deal when he bought his and bought 6 games with his as he got them for £15 each if he bought them with the console, from GAME, he got an additional 2 as a bundle with the console
  • Hi millie,

For child-friendly 3DS games for Christmas, I would recommend

    - Nintendogs + Cats
    - Super Mario 3D Land
    - Mario Kart 7
    - Pokemon Rumble Blast
    - Super Monkey Ball 3D
    - LEGO Pirates/Star Wars

All Nintendo DS games work with the 3DS, so there are toooons of those to choose from as well.

We just bought our 8 year old one for Christmas off Amazon, £159 with two games and a protective case and some screen protectors. Free shipping and it arrives 2 days after I paid, but on reading it, do note that the console actually says the 3D effects are not suitable for use by children under 6 as it can damage their eye sight and on checking this the company that makes it actually said over 7. My son will be 9 by the time Christmas gets here but it's still a concern and we will be seriously limiting his game play in 3D.
