It appears that you have to subscribe to either the monthly or annual package, but if you cancel during the 7 day trial, you will not have to pay anything.

Hope this helps someone... I think it could be a really good idea for Brits living outside the UK who don't want to wait a day for the paper and/or pay £1/ea just for a news paper!

8 things you really need to know about the Daily Mail E-edition
  1. Our 7-day free trial gives you exclusive access to the Daily Mail E-edition and is only available with monthly or yearly subscriptions.
  2. Your free trial starts as soon as you have registered.
  3. When you register to the Daily Mail E-edition you'll be asked to choose a subscription package; there are three to choose from: one week, monthly or annual. You will NOT be charged until the end of the 7-day free trial, and you can cancel your subscription at any time before then by ending your agreement with our payment partner WorldPay.
  4. A subscription to the Daily Mail E-edition provides access to the newspaper and does not include the magazines and / or supplements.
  5. To take advantage of the 7-day free trial, you must be 18 years or over. During registration we'll ask for your credit/debit card details. This helps keep our administration costs down, and our subscription prices as low as possible. Taking your credit/debit card details at registration also means you don't have to do anything at the end of your free trial if you wish to continue with the Daily Mail E-edition.
  6. At the end of your free trial you will be charged your first payment for the Daily Mail E-edition (according to the subscription package you have chosen), unless you have already cancelled your agreement with WorldPay.
