Mortgage Advice

Hi all, need an advice on mortgage. We got a "decision on principle" from HSBC three weeks ago and they said we need to find a house now. So we found the house, made an offer that has been accepted, get our solicitor involved and so on. Come back to bank a week ago to make an application and a nightmare has started. Manager told that mortgage has been rejected (she didn’t not make credit search on us- we would have sms from Experian if she had) and our case will be passed to underwriters. A week passed and no news from bank despite of my emails to her. We have some problems as satisfied CCJ of £285 that my hubby get 4 years ago so I think that a reason of first rejection really. The question is –shall we cancelled the process from bank and go to mortgage broker. We really don’t want to lose that house and I don’t know if that worse to wait an answer from HSBC as we don’t want a lot of credit searches on our file during short time.

HSBC are a very picky lender, so a broker will be your best option.
Remember, a decision in principle is only based on information you provide, whereas a full decision is based on information provided by the credit reference agencies and will be more detailed than what you provide.0 -
As TrickyDicky says, HSBC are known for being extremely picky - and I'd agree that you could do with a chat with a broker.
Are you sure they didn't do a credit check? Experian is only one of three credit reference agencies.0 -
HSBC use callcredit.
I only know this because they recently reject me for no reason known to me
