Quickie question, jury duty and DMP

Evening All,
I'm on a DMP with the CCCS and I've been summoned for jury duty. I know I can claim expenses and loss of earnings but it's capped and not as much as I'd normally earn per day (I'm self employed by the way).
I guess it will be ok to make a reduced payment to my plan that month?
I will phone the CCCS tomorrow, but the thought popped in my head this evening and I thought someone on here would probably know the answer.

Don't see any reason why a reduction of your DMP would be a problem during this time.0

I know that jury duty is just that, a duty, but honestly, it can be damned inconvenient at times.
Could you recuse yourself? There are 60 million other adults who might do this instead. I've heard that people who are 'vital' to their employer are excused for instance, or you might 'develop' a strong feeling about something which is likely to 'bias' your opinion.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

I've actually deferred it once because they wanted me to go when I was really busy work wise, but they won't defer it again.
On one hand it could be very interesting, but on the other hand I'm hoping that the trial is cancelled, why couldn't they have asked me whilst I was employed not self employed, doh!The end is in sight :j0 -
I did jury duty in January last year. It was actually really interesting, met lots of different people.
The only annoying thing I found was that there was a lot of waiting around. Not sure if it works the same in all courts, but at the one I was in we all sat in a large room with a canteen attached & they would then call a group of 20 people through. That 20 would then be taken off to the courtroom & 12 people chosen, the names chosen randomly on the computer by the court clerk if I remember correctly.
The other 8 people then had to go back to the room to wait & hope that you got chosen for a case. I was there for 2 weeks but didnt get sworn on to a court case until the 2nd day of my 2nd week, it was very frustrating.
In my first week, they actually told a handful of us on the Tuesday that we weren't needed on the wednesday & to ring on thursday morning before going in. I ended up working on the wednesday & thursday instead.0 -
Ive done Jury duty twice in the past and it is a very hit and miss affair I'm afraid, you could attend for a fortnight and not be called at all,
be sent home and go to work in the pm, and only claim for the mornings lost wages.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
