Zafiro, well done on the sale :T For the things that will cost alot to post/aren't worth as much etc don't forget you can always do a few carboots in the summer months as well. Me and DS love doing carboots together, he's a mad head saver like me and is only 8 lol. He's currently trying to save for a Macbook air (some sort of laptop I'm not really sure) but I know it's about £900.. but he's made a spreadsheet and written his current bank balance etc in it bless him. Money saving is a good habit for kids to have from a young age so it's nice he takes the steps himself :j

My savings for Jan-March are not going to be as high as I had hoped as we ordered a new bed yesterday which will be paid for in cash at the end of March. This money will be out of my savings so they are likely to go up and down a bit.

DH is due a good bonus end of April which will compensate a bit and we are desperate for a new bed so it had to be done:D

65p in the virtual pot and I will clear my purse into the other pots before bed. I am not including the money put in these pots in my total until December when they will be opened.

We have offered to sell our old TV to my brother so that will be a few quid to add to the coffers if he agrees to our very low price. I need to ebay DS coats while it is still cold enough for someone to want to buy them.

ETA: I too would be up for saving £100k in 10 years. My plan is to save £12k this year, £13k next year and so on. £12k is still a little pie in the sky for me this year but if I cn save enough to cover our holidays and home improvements, christmas and fill one ISA to the brim by 31.12.12 I will be one happy bunny.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Ooooh, I'm totally signing up to save £100/£120k in 10 years! Will definitely be in equity/assets rather than savings accounts though!

    Very excited!! :D

Good luck to your DS, I wish him well.
I wish more children had a better idea of the value of money. Mine used to have an allowance when they were young teenagers for clothes and anything else they fancied. When it was spent, that was it, until the next month. It didn't take them long (after tantrums and me not giving in) to realise the value of what they could spend/buy. Seems to have stood them in good stead, one has no morgage, the other is a fanatical saver.

Just checking in. I haven't updated so far as my boyfriend has started a new job and has swapped from weekly to monthly pay. Luckily I went back to work at the end of last year but we still won't be able to transfer anything until March. Feel a bit disappointed but that is only because I want to join in now!

  • Hey just checking in.

Still only at £300 however hoping to be able to add another £80 to that fairly soon :) Then roll on the 27th until I can hopefully put away around another £600-£700. Fingers crossed. Im finding this saving hard going and only just started but really glad I found this thread to keep me going.

Really, really want to move house and I know that the only possible way to do it is to save.
    Mortgage deposit target April £9000
New mortgage deposit target May £8000 to go
  • Adding another £11.77 which had been shifted into my rent & direct debits budget account as part of the 'save the change' LTSB offer. :D

At some point I need to work out what my surplus is in that account and in my account set aside to hold anything I spend on my credit card and move them over. I'll need to sit down and go over everything as I've budgeted for lots of different bits that come out at different times and frequencies.

Two more things on eBay sold, keeping very strict accounts on it as only the profit should go towards the 12k - or so I think.
DH said I could sell the brand new woodburner that has been sitting in the summer house for ages - never been installed so hopefully that should yield a fair bit. Just off to find yet another box of items and I shall spend the next hour or so writing the [STRIKE]destructions [/STRIKE]descriptions on them, photos tomorrow and then hopefully to upload
