Do you want running total, or the amount saved that month?

Would it be cheating to delay my December payday savings until January.....?

Running total please, that would make it easier :) You can post monthly totals as well if you want to :)

Quick question, I would be looking to save the 12k in 12, but I also purchase business shares (we get a good deal where I work) - can these be included in my savings amount?
Great question! This thread is about saving the money, but it doesn't tell you anything about where to save it, so that is up to you! Include it :D

Could you add me to the list please - am hoping to save the full £12K please - saving for a house right now
    2023 Target- £70k towards my 1st Home :money:£10/70k :jSave 12k in 2023 £6000/£12k Make £2023 in 2023 £500/£2023 December 2023 Target - £10k Emergency Fund Pot - £200/£10k
  • I have decided I am going to save my 'standard' £1000 on Dec payday (doesn't count for challenge). But then I will try and not spend all of my allocated 'spending money' before January payday and anything left out of that will be saved the day before Jan payday and WILL count for the challenge. Seems fair to me!
  • Hello SF, could you add me to the list, please? I'm aiming for 12k but will review it every couple of months and re-adjust it higher if I can. I'm about to start a new job so no idea how much I can save but it's good to have a concrete amount to aim for.

My savings will go to my emergency fund, then paying my debt to my mum, then I'm going to start saving for a house desposit.

Can't wait to get started! :j

  • Please can you add me to the list - I will set my target for £6,000, but will review after a couple of months to see how I'm getting on!

Another £1300 off the car loan today, £600 to go, will have that cleared next month! Hurrah! Just under two years earlier than the four year term! Finally got over the "but I won't have any emergency money" fear and have used all savings up, against the loan - makes a lot of sense as the loan debt is 7.9% vs ~3% ISA or less.

Hope everyone else is doing the same thing and not trying to save while having expensive debt... Perhaps mortgage excluded!

Well done on *almost* clearing the car loan! Definitely more sensible than keeping it as savings (as long as you can get your hands on some cash in a genuine emergency!) £1300 is loads to clear in one month :T
