For some reason my June savings went up by £5 between when I reported them here and when I finally got my PINsentry and loaded them from my current account to my savings account. Oh well, as long as it's this way round! :D

Add it onto July's total, that's what I do as I hopefully have some left over from budget before payday which is not included in what comes out as savings as soon as I get paid.

Usually just a few quid but every little helps towards the target as they say :D
  • Apologies for not posting much on here, its not like me as I am normally an anorak when it comes to it (see mfi3 challenge!). I am a bit off the boil as far as savings go as I am also saving up for a holiday to Italy which is taking up all my money leaving nothing to save really. I am stuck at the present amount of £6164.72 (also £7050 from a previous challenge totals £13214.72) so very happy that I have managed to save this plus paid for holiday and holiday spends.

I am finding things getting tight though as regards bills and overheads. There is nowhere to cut back on like there used to be, gas and electric has gone through the roof as has petrol, food, boiler cover, insurance, the costs keep rising. I dont know how everyone else is managing?

At least I am not flooded out like all those poor people up and down the country, and we both have jobs so very lucky.

Good luck to everyone on this challenge, we are half way through now so keep going, every penny saved is one less to save!

I am shopping at Ald! mainly and it is very good quality and good prices too, I take advantage of the £5 off coupons when they come up and they do low fat stuff too which has been handy for me being on a diet (managed to lose 2 stone!)

    Hello all,

#112 here :) I've been missing for a fair while from MSE (and not really being very MSE either :o)

However, I am happy to report that I have reviewed my finances and I managed to save the full £12,000 to put towards my wedding last month!!!!

Can't believe I managed it. Unfortunately, I managed to spend even more than that on the credit card so I will be moving on from here and focusing now solely on paying back that and my other debts.

Sorry for having been such a silent member of the group but thanks for letting be be a part nonetheless.

I wish you all the very best with your £12k in 2012 efforts.

    Helen xx

Hi all, well done to those who are still saving.

I'm updating with my June figure which is £594.80 (have also updated on front page). I'm now up to exaclty £5,000 which is great. Everything I'm saving is towards a house deposit so myself and OH have nearly £13,000 between us which is great.

I get paid in a couple of days. July is the month we get our pay rises so I'll get a bit extra (we got 3.9% which I don't think is bad with the economy at present) and a little 'bonus' of £233 before tax.

I've gone a bit mad on the cc this month as my sister is having a baby (first nephew) and I'm getting a bit carried away with baby bits! Once cc is paid off I'm going to put £7-800 straight into my savings so will be nearer 6k :).
    Finally bought a home

Tomorrow (Friday) is pay day, and I've been given a nice bonus this year. Just updated my signature log and declaring a massive £2,422 of savings / investments for me in July :-)

Got a nice mid-month bonus - money from my mother in law to go towards my husbands trip to San Francisco in October. We had spent £1700 on flights and tickets for him and my father in law - money that would have gone into our savings pot - and this has now been gifted back to us.

However, I've decided not to put it into our savings pot but to hide it away in a seperate wee savings account so that when we have to pay for hotels and spending money in October, it is already there instead of dipping into our real savings pot again. My husband just rolled his eyes at this as he doesn't quite get my money pot saving/observing/spreadsheeting obsession! :-)

Not having to dip into our savings again will also make it slightly easier when my DH and FiL fly off on holiday in October without me... I can spend the week staring proudly at our savings total.... :-P

Hey everyone! Not declaring Julys savings yet as its one of my best friends weddings later in the month, but had an awesome start to the month as received a rent rebate (for lack of boiler for 3 weeks) & a tax rebate too (unexpected!).

As we've been saving really hard I treated myself to a new dress :-) the rest all went into savings :0)

Love reading everyones updates too as they give me more determination to reach our year end goal! X
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
  • Just wanted to say a BIG goodbye, I'll miss all the updates for the end of the month as I'm getting married on Friday the 20th and I'll not be around for at least 5 weeks.

All the best everyone & happy saving!
