Oooops - I think I was a bit enthusiastic paying so much across on payday! :o

I now have to survive (lunches, transport and personal spends) on not-a-lot until February pay day! :p This is where it gets interesting! :D

Same here Deb, except I don't seem to have saved much either lol :rotfl:

What will you do? I'm thinking I'll have to walk to work, taking my home-made lunch with me, and not go out for any beers for a month! :p

Lol pretty much the same... we have food in for enough meals to last us until we get paid, we have fuel in the car to last us until next Saturday which is when we're selling it anyway. And we're getting a bit of money on Tues 7th which will put us on until we get paid on 17th :o

We have about £15 at the moment (family of 4) so that will buy bread/milk until 7th... it's pretty much the same every month for us to be honest, we always run out of money a few weeks in to the pay month! But if I don't save money in a separate account like I have the £151 this month- we'd be no better off cos I'm sure we'd just fritter it on crap like we used to! :o

Good luck until payday! When do you get paid? x

    £850.00!

Really pleased that I have been able to save so much, I think it is mainly due to a very frugal xmas and buying loads of food (tins, flour etc) over the xmas period which has helped us this month.

Nice to hear how everyone else is doing, keep up the good work and keep going!

For February I am going to continue baking my own bread and doing everyone packed lunches, general thriftiness with the weekly shop which I am convinced is the key to success, cooking my own food and the usual stuff with laundry, drying on the racks etc.

Also doing the sealed pot challenge and have put a few bob in there too this month ;)

Not done so well as I'd hoped this month.
As I finish part-time work this month, I'd hoped to be able to manage on my pension & save my salary. But garden wall fell down in the storm & decided not to claim on insurance (as they will likely argue that wall was not sound and affect next years premium) so cost £540 to rebuild it. Then my fridge freezer packed up - 15 yrs old so can't moan too much. But unfortunately lost quite a bit of stuff in freezer as was away when it failed. So by the time I paid for the new fridge freezer & fitting, & started to restock food, I've overspent the amount I intended to save.

I did sell some things on eBay. (Is it just me that finds it a fad in working out my profit, having to hunt out the eBay & PayPal fees. I'm sure they list them in separate places so you don't realise the full amount they deduct, although i believe that eBay own PayPal). Made £110.40. So will transfer to savings & hope to do better next month.

Me too, though I do have it all saved. Trying desperately to not go into the savings. Get paid on the 15th, my main outgoing til then is petrol to get to work. Would love to cycle but a) I'm not a morning person and getting up earlier would kill me as I'm a bad sleeper & b) I'm terrified of getting run over. Trying not to really go out to save money there...

Just a small update of £605.91 to the 10k mark, really trying to push it. I hope to add another £100-£200 to the cash total by the end of the day with any luck.

But pretty pleased with the £605.91 :T

I don't get paid until the 24th Feb LOL :rotfl: I'm doing this slightly differently though, because I do it from "my" spends only. I've paid my share into the joint account which pays for the groceries and household bills. I use my own money for my transport, lunches, clothes, toiletries etc.

I figured out ages ago that I am rubbish at NOT spending what is in the account, so I transfer a chunk of money to a savings account at the start of each month. It then becomes a game of living off what is left. :A I've misjudged it a bit this month, and have left myself with zero cash :rotfl:

In theory I can do that, by using the houshold groceries to make all my lunches, walking to and from work every single day and spending nothing on personal items until then. Can I do it? I reckon I might need about £100 back from the savings, so that will be my target....

I know exactly what you mean about being terrified of getting run over. What distance is it for you to get to work?

I've had an emotionally tumultuous year (my fiance's bit on the side moved into our house a couple of weeks before our wedding) and I'm trying to get back on my feet.

What?! You poor thing! That sounds awful. Well done on the money saving though!!

I hope everyone is squeezing as much interest as they can from their savings. If you haven't got a cash isa yet, NOW IS THE TIME to open one! Don't leave it sitting in your current account.

£1000 in a cash ISA at 3% will earn more than 8p per day in tax-free interest.
