Hmmm I declared my savings for this month, but forgot about boyfs sharescheme, he also added additional in that I wasn't counting on & I realised our bills account had £80 additional in it (over our double bill amount security blanket) so withdrew that and paid it into savings.
I declared £609.88 originally but its now £779.88 for Jan; shall I just include the additional put in onto next months figure do you think; is that cheating? (sorry Slowlyfading for being a doofus!)
On the plus side all the ebay items Ive listed are at £60 at the minute, ending tomorrow afternoon/ evening- whooop! I was hoping for a tenner in honesty) that money will be paid into savings February so will not count for this month, but its all so positive! Loving all this saving!
First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
update done, time to do the signature....over the bidget for the month, but I reckon on calling it a target, rather than a budget might be better.

I wont declare until the 31st as that's when I intend to cut the month off and start afresh - think I'll be a bit under target this month as just had car tax to pay! I opted to pay for 12 months rather than 6 though as there was a saving to be made.Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000
Current mortgage £28,0000 -
Oooops - I think I was a bit enthusiastic paying so much across on payday!
I now have to survive (lunches, transport and personal spends) on not-a-lot until February pay day! This is where it gets interesting!
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0 -
That's my grand done for the month! Been really careful with spending on food etc and had a decent amount of cash back from the energy company as overpaid. Got £150 coming in February, cashback from my mobile phone contract and will get some more in a couple of months. Not had a lot of spare time for Ebaying but a trip up the loft yielded some good items I can sell next month when life is less hectic!MFW Aug16/ £134,400 Sep16/ £132,900 Oct16/ £130,900 Nov16/ £129,731.15 Jan17/ £127,735.84 Feb17/ £125,701.24 Mar17/ £123,997.26 May17/ £122,493.31 Jun17/ £120,985.20

I've been enjoying reading everyone's postings and well done on all the money saved! :T I've felt v inspired by the forums and am grateful for the tips I've picked up.
I've managed to:
* get a direct debit over payment back from my fuel provider
* sell lots of old CDs and DVDs that were sitting in my loft
* make cards nd presents
* receive some cashback payouts from my Christmas shopping
* bought my travel card at 2011 prices and altered my route to work to now just pay for a zone 2-3 travel card instead of 1-3 (another big saving)
* take my lunch to work all but 2 days this month
* almost stick to a food budget for the month
I've had an emotionally tumultuous year (my fiance's bit on the side moved into our house a couple of weeks before our wedding) and I'm trying to get back on my feet. I struggle with confidence and depression still and even though I didnt manage to stick to the food budget I plucked out of my head for the month (I've never done this before), I am most proud of actually trying to do so. Instead of buying expensive sandwiches out and then snacking on toast or cake in the evenings, I have been meal planning (mainly around what cheap seasonal veg I can pick up at the market where i now live) and eat 'proper' nutritional meals every day. Having batch cooked I have a full-ish freezer of good things for days when I'm struggling to manage and don't feel like anything. I've also been making my own bread and soups for lunch which has saved me a lot of money already too.
With the savings I've made, a long with a bit of money I was given for Christmas, I've been able to pay for a holiday in Peru (with 30% discount) over Easter without incurring monstrous credit card payment charges. I've been challenging myself to do new things and 'getting away from it all' and having something great to look forward to has really helped me in the past.
So, after a bit of mortgage overpaying too (via mainly a gift from my parents) I'm really pleased to be able to report a £300 saving for January (#129) :j
Good luck everyone
