Are endowments really worth anything now?

Admittedly, I know very little about endowments other than the horror stories of recent years of them maturing at a lot less than the outstanding mortgage.
I suppose I should speak to my FA about this, and I will next time I see him, but I was wondering what peoples recent experiences were. Are there decent endowment products out there nowadays?

For anything! We have an IO mortgage which will allow us to overpay 10% per year, but if it's worth taking out an endowment to cut the term down I'll certainly look at it. Can youget 10 or 15 year endowments? You had me at your proper use of "you're".0

Might as well just overpay the maximum you are allowed. At least its a guaranteed return.0
