Broker problems I think

6 weeks ago we applied for a mortgage through a broker. He has said the cheapest he can find is one through Santander. So we went with that done all the paper work and everything on the the first day.
Now 6 weeks down the line. We have heard nothing from Santander. We rang them about 2 weeks ago they told us we had to go through our broker. We have been on to the broker who has been telling us for over a week that they will be looking at it tomorrow, then tomorrow, then tomorrow. Still no contact from Santander.
Today I phoned them again and told them the problems so they looked into it and they have no records of us.
So where is the problem the broker or Santander. Who do we drop because between them we are getting no where.

I would get a new broker. You're paying him for a service and it sounds like he is not providing it very well.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Have you had anything from your broker to suggest an application has been made to Santander?
I would be asking for a copy of the Decision in Principle certificate firstly. Once this has been done then a full application should have been done, with a survey instructed soon afterwards.
6 weeks is a ridiculous length of time. If they have no record of you it could be because no application has been made.
I would give the broker one last chance to do something by close of busines today or find another one.

Put it this way: I saw my broker last night, we sat down and went through the application to Santander, submitted it at 7:15 and the notification came back at 7:19 that the mortgage was approved. Job done. Methinks your broker is a bit rubbish! You had me at your proper use of "you're".0

We have had nothing back from Santander. They have no records of us anywhere.
We tried to call the broker today and it's his day off. I want to go direct to Santander but my husband wants the broker to explain himself.
It's driving me mad.0 -

Chesck if the same deal is available directly. I have had a case very recently where the applicant could not get the rate directly it had to be through a broker.
Personally I like Abbey. Their admin can be shocking but the decisioning is quick. Underwriters can slow it down but in general I like using them.
Grab another broker and see what comes up. Is it a purchase or remortgage? How much borrowing and what value?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yet another reason to find another broker - 4-6 weeks?? surely not!? I believe that most conveyancing takes 6-8 weeks at least! (Anyone with a happy ending of a purchase that took les than 8 weeks, please share your tactics!)

I had a purchase complete within 28 days of offer recently.
Key to it is a good broker to ensure the offer is quick and correct and a good solicitor who understands the urgency and works to the deadline and more importantly a client who provides all necessary requested items asap. Any broker or solicitor is only as good as the client who works with them.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Value of the house 140,000 mortgage 83,000. We have had a look and we can get the deal online and Santander told me to go direct earlier.0 -

He had everything from day one. So there is no reason for a delay.0
