Hi Soubrette! I think you are half right. my big loan... my mum knew about it and i think i therefore felt ashamed and wanted to let her know i had paid it off as she worries about her kids and money (as any good parent would!). She doesn't know about my cc or overdraft so therefore it feels, not free, but that it kinda doesn't exist! I think I was a bit exhausted with the debt bustin' too.
So now that I have got down to £2k on my cc, I have 9 months to pay it back and I feel thats do'able and not in a way thats going to "send me over the edge"!!Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

thanks for the comments and as you can see from my sig, ive managed to achieve my first mini target!!
got a carboot planned, but proceeds of that are to pay for a girly night out (at least its not on the credit card)!
I've found some much needed motivation from reading some of the diaries. I also need to learn that its not going to go away over night and not to punish myself everyday for it still existing!
Heres to being debt free in 2012 - i hope!!
thanks all you MSErs!!x
Well done on the first mini target - and way ahead of time!!!
Love the idea of the car boot sale to fund the girly night out - money for old rope and a good time into the bargain in the knowledge that its not costing you a button! :TLBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

it should be a good night, but made all the better for it being "free"!! I will probably feel guilty about spending on myself and not debt-bustin' with it, but hey thats just the battle of trying to keep a balance!Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

I think it is normal to feel like this, especially in your last few months before you come debt free - it's like "enough already, bored of this".. You've done really well though, just start thinking about what is next so that you have something to take your mind off your debt and wishing the time away waiting for payday! xx0

Well my recent oomph (from meeting the mini target early) has been knocked out of me...
We all arrived home this morning (fireworks sleepover at a friends house), to find the heating had gone on the blink. No worries (I thought) as I joined the BGas home-thingy last year as I didn't want to get bitten with the massive call out charge, like last year. So phoned and the engineer duly came and checkd out the heating system. He managed to fix it (whilst I froze on the sofa, DH and DD went to Mums).
He then says that the heating system needed a flush out (or something) and that one of the faults was the same thing as last year. and if i dont get this flush out thing then it would be chargeable if it happened again (which he said was likely). He then goes on to say that if I sign up for it just now or before next week then he could give me a discount of £50. So "all" it would cost would be..................... £480!!!! WHAT?!?!?!?!
Firstly I just don't know what to do cause I cant run the risk of the house being cold since I have a little one and Secondly..... it would need to be paid for by the Credit card!! AAAAARRRRGGGHH. 1 step forward and 200 back!
Sorry rant over!Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

Single Mum here too - get onto Youtube and there are great videos for draining down and flushing your central heating system. A plumbers merchant will sell you a big bottle of cleaner / inhibitor and I bet you it will cost you less than £40 to do.
I have done this myself BTW - £450 is 4 months groceries to us so I would rather learn how to do it myself than take food from my kids mouths.
And if you think you can't!!!! Well a Plumber friend gave me this tip -"take a shufty at the average Plumers Mate (trainee) - how difficult do you think the basics are love???"
Don't think he held his first year trainees in much regard though:rotfl:
