We are about to do a DMP with PayPlan. Yesterday I had a call from the credit card company who said I have defaulted on 5 of the last 6 payments (true). I explained that we were going to be sorting stuff out with payplan, whom they recommend. The guy on the phone said that the credit card company will deal with payplan, but not the debt collection agency they pass the debt onto - they won't negotiate with payplan at all, and are only interested in obtaining the money from us./
Is this correct? Do debt colection agencies not deal with payplan?

Hi, I dont know if it applies to all DCA's but we tried to set up a DMP with Payplan but they wouldn't do it as some of the debts had been passed to one particular DCA.
Sorry, not much use I know!!0 -
As far as I know nearly all DCA subscribe to a code that stipulate that they must deal with a 3rd party if the client wants that. I would not worry about it why not ask Payplan.Moved to Denmark for FIRE by Aug 2025 “May your decisions reflect your hopes not your fears”
