Not sure where to put this offer.

On page 58 of todays Metro, is a voucher to get a haircut for £5 at Sassoon Academy in London, 48 brook St, W1.

Offer expires 14/11/11 and is by appointment only restricted to Monday - Friday 9.45am & 1.45pm

Expect appointment to last 3 hours!

Have corrected my typo. I should know how to spell Vidal's name seeing as my dad always maintained he was our cousin somewhere along the lines. Probably something like 8th cousin, 4th time removed no doubt.
The end is nigh

I went there with this offer 20 years ago or more though I think they were in Brook St Mews at that time - some Mews near Sth Molton Street, anyway. The girl who cut my hair did not instill confidence when she said "I can never get the sides even!" We got chatting as she progressed. I thought she must be in her first weeks of training but it turned out she had almost completed the 9-month long course. Her father had paid several thousand £s for her to do it and her scissors had cost hundreds (and this was late 80s/early 90s). I wonder if she ever did conquer her fear of uneven sides?

    PS
It's Sassoon, BTW, as in Vidal, the bloke who did the famous Twiggy haircut.
  • I've had them do colour for me (about 10 years ago) and they were qualified hairdressers just looking for Sassoon accreditation. I guess it's way better than doing it yourself!

Thanks very much - one very happy niece and best friend tonight I think :0)

FYI: I've used all of the freebie haircut places at one time or another. Best, in my opinion, is Toni & Guy but Sachs and Vidal Sassoon are also not too bad.

They are all students in one way or another, some are new to it and doing cuts to pass their exams but others old hat and are updating their techniques

I've not ever had any problems though, except perhaps them not being daring enough and once I got my hair cut by Michael Barton (10 years younger fella) for free and ended up on the Sachs training video which was fun :0)

As long as at least one person can benefit like you. My mission is complete

    Hope all goes well

  • I used to always go to the Toni & Guy place off Tottenham Court Road, was fab but take a book!!!! You'll be in the hot seat quite a while.

My favorite time was when the student didn't turn up so the tutor did it! Marvellous!!!!!

I now go to Joseph Priestly college in Leeds where they do hairdressing. If you go for level 3 they're mostly hairdressers already and have been for years but just want the final level to go into teaching themselves.

    A positive bargain!!!!!

I went there as a student about 10 yrs ago when they were doing the same offer. One of the worst haircuts I've ever had, went for a colour too and they only begrudgingly did that in a rush at the end. I left the place in tears.

I had this done just about 10 years ago. They were forever asking me "are you open to change"...well I was an Art student so anything went anyway and I just went with it. Had an amazing cut -think Rihanna style (shaved close on one side, long on the other) also bleached it and dyed it very bright red. I was in two ways about it but pulled it off because I was young (IMO if your young and act confident you can pull most things off).

I would make sure if your doing this and you do have a dress-code at work, that your 100% crystal on whats going to happen to your hair and happy with it. The advanced academy does seem to specialise in experimental cuts. I've seen many in the past leave as they were not "open to change".

You will have the hairstyling genes lurking in there somewhere then!
