Thursday 13th October - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well & not half asleep like me!

Today's plan:-

  • [strike]Cycle to work[/strike][STRIKE] & home again[/STRIKE]
  • [strike]Make use of free water at work[/strike]
  • [STRIKE]Charge phone at work[/STRIKE]
  • Stay in for my lunchbreak to avoid spending - or possibly go look for a birthday present for me sister? Still no idea what I'm looking for though so maybe that's a bad idea...we'll see lol - Went out for a little bit...but refrained from buying a couple of bits, & only bought essentials!
  • [strike]Food from stores[/strike]
  • [STRIKE]Dinner from meal plan[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Check for surveys[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Enter comps[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Check online banking[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Check out this weeks flylady thread & do something - must keep on top of it this week[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Take refillable water bottle to polenastics tonight & get a lift[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Washing on eco setting[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Hang up to dry[/STRIKE]
Have a great, MSE day everyone x

Hi everyone. Thanks Perni for starting the thread.

Hugs to everyone that needs them.

    Today I have/will
    Showered using hotel toiletries
Raided tea, coffee and biscuits from hotel room
Lunch and dinner on expenses. As usual, I'll stock up on as much as I can with my lunch allowance then eat as little as possible, so will take the rest home for the kids.
    Charge phones at work
    Checked online banking
Made small payments towards two credit cards
Have a NSD (except what I can claim on expenses)

Think thats about it for now. Have a great day everyone

  • Hi guys,

Thought I'd share my DFW things I'm doing/have done today:
    • cycled to and from work
    • brought in lunch from home, but an epic fail occurred when I didn't put any meat in my salad! Doh!
    • going to the cinema to watch Machine Gun Preacher, thanks to my mums Sky Rewards
    • taking our own sandwiches, drinks and munchies with us so we aren't tempted by overpriced cinema snacks and McDonalds on the way home!

    Hello - I'm here!
Posting after work as usual - Friday tomorrow and its PayDay then - hurrah!!
Had my payslip today and I'll be paid my bonus, backpay and normal pay!:j:j If only every pay slip coudl look like that!

It means that as of tomorrow morning I'll have paid of the decorating costs put on the CC in anticipation of the bonus, repaid my £100 OD racked up in the summer during the spilt from OH, put £2000 back into the savings account (not to be touched), put £100 into the living room redecoration fund and put aside £100 for a treat - all on top of my normal salary which will just go into the normal current account!!!!:j:T
I think the treat will be a few new clothes - I am finally having a social life again now I'm a "single lady" and have started going out with friends and colleagues and need a few new tops for the autumn's social events!

    Finally life is good again:beer:

So that's the big things, the little things to stay debt free ...
    • Had a free lunch for doing duty at school
    • Walked dog lots - lovely to see him running around in the park after al of the depressing rain (he gets quite fed up with being wet all of the time)
    • Tea from stores
    • Checked bank to work out where the lovely money is going
    • Phoned mum with free mins
    • Booked kennel cough jab for dog for tomorrow:( poor doggy
    • Finish shopping list for weekend
    • Make up spare bed
    • Do budget for salary for new month
    • Do a bit of work tonight - marking special needs group books - should be interesting!
Right I'm off to skip into the kitchen in my good mood (amazing what a bit of dosh will do - the pressure is off!)

    Hi all!
Yes Karb I saw your kick up the as5 and stepped to it! Work has blocked the forums so don't get chance to post anymore. I post on my phone but it's hard.
Welsh I am in the same boat at the moment! I got a £2000 payrise last week and was skipping around 'spending' it' lol
    Right this is me:-
    - Checked banking
    - Paid £5 netball social meal
    - Worked extremely hard to earn above payrise
    - Start thinking about training plan for new staff member
    - Dinner from stores, bought lunch :-/
    - Work out budget for October paypacket
    - Night in tonight, just me and my baby :-)

See, not a lot going on really here just plodding along, I am still here and reading but don't feel like I have much to update with :-/

    J x
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    Hi guys

I'm here today - just still feeling like a big dfw-fraud with my debts and pending house move pushing debts up up up... But I know we're doing the right thing for us - we've outgrown our 300sq ft flat and can't stay here for the next five years, so instead I'm coming up with a '5-year to be debt free' plan and hoping to pay off our debts while living in a live-able house :) SOA says go, go, go - will be an extra £300 a month between us both - will be worth it - just means we won't pay the credit card off as quickly, but I'm up for that.

Here's what I managed today to stay on track:
:) Went to the library to read my book at lunch, not the coffee shop
    :) Walked everywhere
:) Resisted the chocolate machine even though I really wanted something!
:) Called mum with included mobile mins and not from house phone

    Night all!
