Student Job - 15 Year Old

Hello,
I would like to know if there are any particular stores that hire people aged 15. I do turn 16 in January, but I would like to get a Saturday job, like my twin.
Are there any chains out there that would hire somebody my age?
Regards,
Cooldude

Yes. Another person may be leaving, but at the moment there isn't room. On top of that, I would have to develop my CAD skills.

Are you still at school, I believe you have to have permission nowadays and there regulations that the company who employs you hs to register with the council or something. So be careful, your parents also have to sign forms.

Good for you for wanting to work, is there nohting going where your twin works.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Yes, I'm still at school. I believe I should be able to work at weekends.
Thanks for your support, I would like to gain experience.
As I explained above, there isn't any vacancies, and even if there was, I would have to develop my skills. :)

Please dont forget about the formalites, you have to be registered at the council.

Ask someone at school in the office, they should know about it.

As already stated above, if your local council has bylaws then you will have to register with them and you are limited to 12 hours a week (term time), max 2hrs on a school day and Sunday and max 8 hrs on a Saturday with a 1 hour break after 4 hours work.

When I was a student I had a job in a Virgin megastore, and they would employee 15 year olds, as long as they had an NI number (which is usually issued a few months before your 16th, if I remember correctly). i'm not sure if this is the norm?

I worked from age 14, grocers, few quid a week on a Saturday. Earning your own money is a great thing to do, you have some control over your life (especially if you sort out your own bus to work instead of trying to cadge lifts), and is a very adult approach. You learn a LOT more than you imagine you will too, you learn how the wider world operates, work with people of all ages and backgrounds, maybe handling more cash than you've ever seen before, maybe dealing with wholesalers, maybe striking a deal and haggling, etc. It is a great idea.

So try popping into shops with Christmas coming up, ask what casual jobs they have. A grocer will need an extra set of hands in the backroom, maybe, or a pop-up Christmas tat shop might need some shifting/carrying and sales staff for Saturdays. Any job will be worthwhile when you look back and realise what you gained. Smaller, independent places might be easiest.

I started at your age washing up/serving meals in a pub/restaurant whilst I was at school on a weekend. By 18 years old I was behind the bar (whilst at college) & then running the place when the owners went out for evenings (whilst at Uni). All the regulars joked they had seen me grow up!;) I didn't leave until the owners packed in as I just couldn't see myself working there for anyone else.
