Carphone Warehouse - please help

Hi, I hope someone can help help, I have purchased an Archos tablet from the carphone warehouse which has now developed a fault, its was purchased 10/06/11 I have all the receipts, I have been into the store in which i purchased the item they have told me that they don't deal with archos repairs and i would need to go back to them direct! after a few exchanged words, i was getting no where, no manager available to speak to and could not get through to there customer service, i came away, I rang archos and they told me that they don't repair and will just replace the item however i will need to send it to them but i would need to pay the postage! I don't feel this is right can someone please help me with my rights as i am getting no where.

CPW are legally obliged to deal with this - your contract is with them, not Archos. That said, you'll probably find it quicker and less hassle to deal direct with Archos.
How much would it cost to return the tablet? I'd be minded to inform CPW that you'll deal with Archos direct if that is their insistence, but you'll invoice them for any costs involved in doing so.

Your rights are with CarPhone Warehouse.
You can insist they deal with the issue under Sale of Goods Act and they are responsible for postage.
If you want to deal with Archos under the manufacturer's warranty/guarantee, then you will have to conform to their terms... i.e. pay the postage yourself.

Thank you for your replies, I am totally bewilled with carphone warehouse after talking to there customer service complaints dept they have informed me that I do not have a contract with them and i need to deal with Archos direct, even though i purchased through them they are just the retailer and have no obligation to sort this matter for me!! I am just speachless, yous guys are right I think it would be just easier to deal with Archos and just put the whole situation down to experiance and never use CPW again0

I've just had exactly the same experience and was pointed to this thread.
I've logged the complaint with Archos and will see what ensues. I'll probably just takethe hit on postage as it's only a few pounds but would welcome any suggestions for how to cause CPW some grief or at least some embarrassment - if that is possible given their known poor reputation anyway.0
