BT free headphone offer

Did anyone actually get their free headphones? Couple of weeks ago I ordered this item using the £5 money off code that was posted on the freebies board. Order seemed to go through okay but I have just received an e-mail from bt shop to say the order was cancelled because:
'The BT Basic Headset is only available free to customers who ordered Broadband from BT before January 31st 2005 and who registered for BT Communicator with Yahoo! Messenger before 28th February 2005'.
I thought the BT code for £5 off was applicable to spend on any item? I ordered the headphnes because priced at £5 they would have been free. Have sent a rather stroppy e-mail back to BT shop and awaiting their reply. Maybe they don't like me becasue I gave an NTL email address. http://img.moneysavingexpert.com/icons/icon10.gif

It was a leaked code. In theory no one in moneysavingexperts should of used it. These who got the headphones were lucky (not me sadly
) The code could be only used on the headphones (the ones you selected) and it was a special deal for these who registered for a BT Communicator. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what prefences you have (bt mail ntl mail etc) but just fluke these who recieved it:D 0 -

Yikes!!! I sent them a really stroppy email too. Will have to plead ignorance on this one if they read me the riot act. http://img.moneysavingexpert.com/icons/icon10.gif

Hi,
They've just got back to me with the following reason:
'' Please be advised that we do not have a problem with free orders, however due to the amount of fraud headset orders we have cancelled all orders.... ''
Oh well... I suppose I will have to put my hand in my pocket and shell out some cash. http://img.moneysavingexpert.com/icons/icon7.gif

I was under the impression that they had entered into a contract if you had received an email to say the item had been dispatched?
If they emailed to tell you that the order had been cancelled before saying they had been dispatched it,then fair enough,no contract was made.
Anyway,it was worth a try !Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -
This is the e-mail I recieved from BT
The following items in your order have been cancelled:
· BT Basic Headset Price £0.00 inc. VAT each - Cancelled
The BT Basic Headset is only available free to customers who ordered Broadband
from BT before January 31st 2005 and who registered for BT Communicator with
Yahoo! Messenger before 28th February 2005.
If you have recently ordered Broadband from BT and registered for BT
Communicator with Yahoo! Messenger, please call the BT Communicator Helpdesk.
You will be asked to complete our standard security questions and will be issued
with a unique voucher code for redemption at the BT Shop.
Customers who have found the promotion code for any other source are not
eligible for this offer.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
