Is it worth Remortgagiing if I may be moving home within 12 months?

Hi, I'm on the standard variable from my lender of 6.49% at the moment. Something which I am keen to change. However I'm probably going to move home this time next year.

My question is this. Would I be better off getting new mortgage now, or just paying the variable for 12 months then getting a new deal.

I understand some loans are portable, but not sure if this means during the introductory offer period. Also with arrangement and vaulation fees added in, will I end up paying more in the long run anyway.

Am I making sense?

Portable means you can take the mortgage to a new proeprty which is worth the same or more. There are fees involved and you would have to ask each lender what they are and what they allow.

There are fixed deals available for 1 year but you have to be carefull that they do not have any tie ins after the fixed rate finishes.
