Yes I have used her too and my sister last year. My sister was well impressed saved her some money on wheeling and dealing with the stamp duty (all above board I might add) and she got an unexpected cheque after the deal was complete!:j0 -

Bonar Mackenzie in Hill Street are excellent. Used them 3 times. Ask for Linda Thomas, she's lovely.0

I have twice used the following solicitor when moving house:-
Thomas H G Stewart
41 Barclay Place
EDINBURGH
EH10 4HW
He offers a very reasonably priced service, has a very efficient secretary and is very friendly himself - first name terms all round!
A friend of mine recently moved house and never once saw her solicitor face to face!! All dealings were done either on the phone or by a colleague in the office.0 -
Well, I used conveyancingdirect.co.uk for my remortgage, they're based in Glasgow but were cheap and did the job over the phone - I never actually met anyone.
I'm just about to sell my flat and was thinking of taking the DIY approach which is how I found your post. I'm curious; given that 90% of property in Edinburgh is sold via ESPC solicitors and it seems to be the central place how do you plan to advertise and avoid their little monopoly? As I understand it you can't actually advertise there so you'll be restricted to the Scotsman, other papers and some internet sites, but missing the most viewed site?0 -
actually, i have had a bit of a change of heart. i was going to advertise on houseweb.com and the scotsman but when i added up what that was going to cost i found that there was only £1000 difference between going down that route and going through an estate agent and into the espc. hopefully with the increased exposure i will get through the espc i will make back that money. so i had someone round to take photos yesterday and it should be in the espc by monday, guess i have to go through with in now ;-)i wish i was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum,
