I only ask because my dad has cleared out his loft and I have been reunited with all my old vinyl
I've got loads of 12", picture, shaped, coloured and numbered discs, original LPs, imports etc. I could be sitting on a fortune
I just wondered if there was much call for it nowadays...

It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :j

It depends what sort of music is on there... DJs often prefer vinyl due to the sound quality (talking trance/house music types here). Maybe try ebaying it and see if some enthusiast wants the random shaped ones?!0

Yes I stil buy vinyl - Both old and new. Cant be doing with this digital malarky unless i want some thing on my walkman. But always ripped from the vinyl source"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

There's not much dance music. It's mainly rock/metal/indie from 70s through to 90s.
It's far nice looking through all the bumpf you get with vinyl - CDs just don't compare.
I really should get one of those turntables that converts vinyl to mp3, then I could re-live my youth :rotfl:It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
I buy vinyl of The Smiths, Morrissey & Jeff Buckley, got about 200 in total, but I don't have a turntable, so I keep them sealed in plastic wallets I bought.0

Got loooooooads of vinyl - Ebay is always jumping. Punk rock is usually a good seller but, despite being 35 years old, there are still many many good copies in circulation. The less copies, the higher the price.
Folk often ask about eg. an original Live Aid 7" from 1984 - this is virtually worthless, there are simply too many of them about.0 -

Just buy a turntable and re-live your youth
What people see as the weakness of vinyl, I see as it's biggest strength - it's not portable. When I was younger, I'd put a few records on and listen to them. Not wander around the house doing jobs, not listen to it on the way for work, not listen to it while I'm running...just sit and listen. It was only a few minutes until the thing would need turning over, anyway - so no point doing anything else...I find it sad that listening to music as an activity in its own right has pretty much ceased to exist.0 -
When I buy my own house I'm going to make a music room, and the form of music media I shall be having in there is mainly vinyl :beer:0

Just after I cleared out most of my vinyl collection the postman started delivering more. My son who is currrently at university has started building up his own collection of vinyl records. The space I gained from clearing out is now rapidly being filled again with DS's collection.0

Probably because modern music (if Radio 1, Kiss 100, Capital radio and the like are representative/anything to go by) isn't worth sitting down and listening to! Or most people are too busy occupied with other things, since the pace of life has increased since vinyl days? (This comment isn't a retort btw, it's just an observation of life in general )0 -
I buy alot of vinyl, mostly from boot sales and charity shops. I listen to it all the time too.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
