As we've seen, the weather can wreak havoc with services. A couple of hundred thousand homes were hit by power cuts yesterday (50,000 still affected according to the BBC).
If you have any elderly, or vulnerable neighbours near you. Why not pop around and make sure they are OK? Even if you haven't been affected with a power cut (we weren't), it would only take a few minutes to check they have enough candles/a light/a working torch/something to keep warm (extra blankets). If your area is affected by a power cut, at least they will be a bit more prepared.
It took us no more than ten minutes to check on all our elderly neighbours yesterday.
You'll receive nothing from this except for a bit of goodwill.

I know what you mean....I saw an elderly lady the other day struggling to carry a heavy shopping bag in the windy weather, I asked if she would like help with carrying it...from the look and answer I got, I guess she thought I was going to run off with her loaves of bread....:rolleyes:0 -
It's all nice here. A wee bit of wind was no problem but I did see my elderly neigbhour slip out in the blizzard, when I went out he threw a snowball at me. I'm [retty sure he needed little help.If I had words to make a day for you,
I'd sing you a morning golden and new.
I would make this day last for all time,
Give you a night deep with moonshine.0 -

Fortunately, cantankerous old people are in the minority. Most of them would appreciate that someone has taken the time out to see if they are OK.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I phone my neighbour at work to tell her the power was off. She would be coming home to a dark house especially as her husband was working late.
Our power came back on this morning.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

LOL. As you say, he should be fine...as long as his surname isn't Oates...0
