When you came back,......... What???
You gone for a wee again?!

strangely enough i'm going for another now!
I'm having a hard week already! yesterday as i got up to go to bed, i stood looking at the floor for ages before realising that the reason there was an odd pair of trainers on the floor was because i'd been to the shop in them earlier0 -
Got the sack on Friday. Feel really crap. Mixed feelings really. Very glad that I dont have to ever go there again. But very worried about money.
I wasn't given a reason for sacking. They don't need to give one as I'd only been there 8 months. Got four week's wages and holiday pay owed 1 week. Was escorted off the premises within 5 minutes.
Feel really uncertain about the future.0 -
I hope you manage to find something else that is more accomadating to your needs, I don't really have any practical advice to offer but I didn't want to read and run.
I think you're in a better place now despite the uncertainty, your job sounded terrible! I used to work on a reception desk but everyone was a lot more understanding that I needed to take breaks from time to time.
All the best, I hope everything works out for you.Thank you competition posters!

I know it's awful losing your job, but on the plus side, you're being paid for the next 5 weeks to not go into work. You now have time to really focus your job hunt and find something better. Tomorrow is Monday, so more jobs will hopefully come out in your local area - have a quiet night in tonight, watch some crap telly and relax, then really start looking tomorrow morning.
You'll be able to see agencies in person without worrying about how to get the time off work to go and see them - maybe if you're lucky, even attend some interviews too!
You hated your job, but it's over now. You can't do anything about that, so treat it as a good thing - you now have the chance to work somewhere better. Finding a job is easier said than done, but stay positive.
I'm not sure what the position is with claiming JSA when you've been given PILON - I suspect you'll have to wait 4 weeks before you can get anything. Hopefully someone else will be more knowledgeable on that point though.
Good luck.0 -
Put in a claim for JSA conts asap0

Sorry to hear you've lost your job though is sounded pretty awful. I'ld register for JSA straightaway - not sure when you can claim it from but it may be immediate and claims cannot be backdated normally. Call the jobcentre and ask them.
Then I'ld register with temp agencies to see if they've got any work for secretarial and reception - normally a firm would have someone to cover reception for the lunchbreak, sometimes on a rota and well as applying for ads. You should be able to have drinks as you need them though you'ld normally drink at your desk rather than a break. Smoking breaks aren't an entitlement and its quite often banned nowadays - if you can give up its better for your health and finances but I'm sure you know that. Good luck finding something else.0 -
I really appreciate all these replies. I'm glad I posted here. I'm never going to go for a receptionists position again. Its not me. Will stick to secretarial jobs. Have applied for two jobs today and have cleaned my house from top to bottom. Felt good to be busy. Feel pretty depressed, but I just know, this will pass. Just need a few days to get over the shock and humiliation. Car broke down over the week-end, which adds to the turmoil... but at least its keeping me busy, liaising with garage and RAC (have posted about this on another section, so wont go into it here).
Will think about applying for JSA as well as council tax tomorrow. Thank you to all those who have offered up such good suggestions and support.0 -
As for the giving up smoking suggestion, while its very sensible, I just can't at the moment. Its not the right time. Got too much going on. I think I need life to be on an even keel before I can do that.. but I will give it another go as soon as life is running smoothly again.
Sometimes, life throws a tonne of lemmons at you all at once.. This is one of those times. In debt, out of work, bailiffs on my case again due to non payment of council tax and car sucking the life blood out of me. Also, my husband is not quite with it in the head. He spends money on the credit card like its going out of fashion. Credit card debt now at 10k. Well, things can only get better. x0 -
Did I say things can only get better? I was wrong. Have got a migrane coming on. Can see the dreaded aura approaching.
Life is not so good today.... off to bed in a darkened room.0
