Android Users-Tesco Barcode Scanner

Posted this in the electricals thread but got no replies, so i made it a thread of it's very own! :p

I was wondering if anyone with an Android phone uses 'shoppy calc lite'? It signs you into your tesco account, and you can scan barcodes as you shop. I just use it so i can keep track of how much i'm spending, but i wonder if it would work for checking glitches and mis-prices? Can't see any reason why it wouldn't TBH.

I'm new to all this mis-pricing and DTD malarkey, not to mention extremely skint (waves fist at Santander, but that's another story!) so haven't had chance to test it for myself, but hopefully it might help some of you out there to avoid the funny looks and queues at the price scanner! :j

I would imagine it gets the prices online, so wouldn't pick up instore 1p finds

Hmm yeah, maybe not stuff reduced like that, but do you think it would for getting DTD deals and glitches? Or does it not work like that for online pricing? The scanner would show what you'd be charged at the till.

Like i said, still a bit clueless about all this stuff! :o
  • i was wondering if there was some kind of app that would scan tesco items at the price they'd go through at the till

  • I wouldn't think it would be much use tbh, as every store seems to have different prices and offers. It would be able to go onto Tesco.com prices, but it wouldn't be able to get into a specific stores prices.
  • I agree with Clarabella. I have 3 tescos near to me and they all seem to price things differently, especially all the bargains the board has been full of recently (electricals, toys etc) so I don't think it would work 100% of the time. I also seem to remember someone also saying that their instore scanner told a different price to the till, so there may be several databases in use at one time.

    It's only a game

I have a couple of android barcode scanner apps and they just link to either tesco.com or google to get the online price so no good for spotting any instore glitches which is what I was hoping for :(

I dont really know what Im doing with technology though lol so might have got it completely wrong
