been a snooper but this is my 1st post - hi everyone!
used a Verbaudet code to get a gift for my son, cost was 10 quid and the gift was 9:99 plus p+p . The code worked online and showed as having worked on my statement. Product arrived and was faulty, so returned it and had it replaced, now they are charging the full amount. Spoke to customer services and they have said now they have decided not to honour the code, that it is their marketing co's fault for releasing the code without them knowing but that i have to pay.
I said that i wouldn't have bought product if it had been that price but although they admit it wasn't my fault they "can't give somehting for nothing" so have changed it on my account...what do you suggest?

that is worrying I have used loads of codes so many when ordering online the codes where disallowed a message came up code used max number of times
so I just opened an account up in my husbands name and off I went again
I hope they don't chase me for the money as the stuff was over priced compared to the likes of tesco & asda
something simular to me happened buying a £5 towel with a £5 code
it was charged full price
on ringing customer services I was also told you can't have something for nothing
I asked to speak to a supervisor I said I know it sounds to good to be true but the company has advertised it and acepted my order on those terms
the supervisor was giggling she thought it was hilarious and cancelled all charges
so maybe ring customer services again you might get someone nicer and if they are not able to drop the charges speak to a supervisor/they must have someone in charge
good luck0 -
thanks... just rang them and they did the discount there and then. Sounds like they are used to it to be honest, guess i just had bad luck with my last customer service person..0

I bought something from the same company and entered my last three digits from my credit card incorrectly. I then realised when they said it was refused and paid immediatley afterwards (within 5 mins). They charged me £12 for the admin fee - when I protested this they said it was company policy. There was no admin involved it was automatic! I then returned an item that I got 25% discount on (the highest priced item of a few) and they refused to deduct the 25% discount from the next highest valued item instead. When you phone them it is a more premium rate phone call than normal too. I dont use them any more - bargain or no bargains - the administration is a nightmare.0

interesting to read all of this as I've used this company a fair bit in the past, although not for a while, I have used codes too.
In saying that and to be fair, the only time I've had to ring them or contact them about a faulty item, they've taken back, quite some time later and refunded me with no hassle, so guess I've no reason to complain just yet.
Still I shall be careful from now on.

THing is with all codes the issuer reserves the right to withdraw, so we have been warned;)
Please remember we are not allowed Vertbaudet codes on the site. Thanks.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

they have tightened up in the last 6 months, due to having sooo many loopholes in their internet site and their sister company, people were using codes over and over, but hey, its there system's fault for allowing these loopholes to exist.0

Stand your ground! I had this with Empire and a £20 code - I was not paying £20 for the poor quality of items I recieved! Took 9 months working with office of fair trading and providing email statement proof of myself, and my partner, they honoured the code for him, but not for me, and they claimed I used a different code, in the end after arguing so much and being threatened with court, they said they dropped the fees as a 'goodwill guesture', I had proof of the code I used and they'd changed my records ¬¬~*Cerenia*~
