I think you could definitely reduce your food bill, but it does depend on how many people you're feeding... You might need to give a few more details about your household.
Also, £100 for 'drinks for home'???? Definitely cut down on that or get rid of it altogether...0 -
Thanks very much. I think i did overdo the drinks at home amount but shopping with booze is expensive as we dont go out. I shop at Aldi but still manage £80 to £100 per week. We are two adults and two fast growing children. The outings we have tend to be takeaways to involve the children. but i have started a weekly around the world home cooked tea instead of the takeaways.0

I don't mean to be harsh, but if you truly want to spend less you should cut down on the amount you spend on alcohol. I don't go out, but i also don't buy alcohol. You don't even have to stop buying it but i think you should limit yourself. If you allow yourself to drink £100 worth of alcohol a month, it seems that as you are likely having it whenever you want, it won't be as much of a treat.0

Lots that can be cut down here. Definately groceries, also electricity/gas payments are high, nearly double what we are paying, so have a look at cutting back useage, it's amazing what you can find you are wasting. We'd like to spend that much on drinks too, but we don't, as we'd soon overspend our food/groceries budget. I used to handle my finances all wrong (for decades!) but now I can really see that what needs to come first is the budget and that needs to be based on what you have coming in, rather than what you would like to spend. We have cut down to a bottle of wine at the weekends unless special occasion. If you are serious about getting rid of your debts, then many would argue that £52 a month for satellite TV is a luxury. We've recently changed to freeview & so far I haven't missed a single channel.2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.

Mortgage life insurance looks like it may be high. Shop around or consider increasing your other life assurance.
