having trouble selling stuff after wedding!

As above! the whole idea was that I could make a good return to even out the costs of the wedding but my bridesmaids dresses and shoes aren't even getting any views! I've got 3 smashing purple dessy dresses that I searched high and low to find - eg I thought they were popular so would sell well but nothing! My bridesmaids shoes were irregular choice mini magic purple and cost £65 each. I put my ivory ones up for sale and immediately they were snatched up and had quite a few people messaging me for them, so I don't get why the others arent selling?
I've got them on preloved and gumtree, is there anywhere else? I dont like ebay cos of all the fees and can't drive to take them to a fair or anything but I want rid as they are taking up space!

  • You and your wedding have a swap and for sale section on their website, where you can put photos etc on.

And here's me thinking purple has become real popular! I'm going to have stuff with purple theme I'll be looking to home - mostly smaller bits like table decorations and I was hoping a job lot in purple might stand a chance of getting a home. Luckily I dont have the dress problem as my BM will keep her dress - its a short Coast one that she's already worn for her prom and could use again. Can't believe yours aren't selling - hope that other site works for you, and I'll sneak a look there myself

is it maybe that the popular "wedding season" is mostly over and Christmas is coming so people aren't looking for bridesmaids dresses and so on as much? Might be worth keeping them up for a little longer?

  • I imagine bridesmaid items are a lot more difficult to pass on as people often need things to match a number of people. They normally wont just want one pair in a size 5, but they'll need a junior size and a couple of differing adult ones - so picking them up second hand isn't often an option.

I'd try selling them on eBay separately, writing Christmas party wear in the details perhaps.

thanks, the christmas party wear is a really good idea I hadn't thought of that. yes I see what you mean about needing items for a number of people, I have 3 dresses but as they are an 8, a 12 and an 18 that is quite a range. I will try your ebay idea thankyou x

We really do need a MSE wedding sell section - could we set one up on FB?
