Hi,if anyone sees any of these really good pet bargains going for coppers and doesn't need them, it might be a lovely gesture to donate them to your local animal shelter, I am sure with things being so tight for the animal charities at the moment, they would be gratefully received. Thanks.

That is a lovely idea! In this day and age spending something so small which also looks like alot would give satisfaction as the shelters would see the item and appreciate it more for what it is, and you know you only spent a small amount but made a big change.... Sometimes people need that appreciation when giving things to feel good thus making it something they'd probably do again... Others just do it because they have goodness inside. End result is the same. Charity benefits, person has done a good deed :):) I'll be looking for some, but i do have a cat myself so maybe just keep what i need for mine and fingers crossed have a lot to give :)

This is exactly what I have been doing.
So far I have about 13 food bowls, 3 catflaps, 5 cat/dog beds, 7 puppy leads and collar sets and a variety of about 20 different dog toys. All for the grand some of abt £8 as I managed to pick up quite a few of these things for 1p.
I'm going to keep gathering as there is still lots about and then I will split these goodies between 2 local animal rescue charities. Or maybe even 3 if the deals keep coming:)

Any offence is not intentional, I'm really quite harmless :o

...and for reasons like this and people like you, MSE is a good place to be :T
For info, some blankets left :T@99p in E@rlestown Mr T, pet beds in H@ydock @ £4, but fleece blankets still full price there (according to the SEL anyway).
  • Well done all you people donating to your local animal charities. I've found a few bits & bobs that I'm going to donate aswell.
I found some flexi leads for £3 (medium) and £2 (large).

I have also learnt to ignore the SEL. If I have seen the item reduced in one store and then full price in another, I scan it to check. I've learnt that in most instances it is in fact the same price in both stores, it's just that one of them hasn't updated the SEL. This can also be really helpful when searching for that elusive item as no-one else knows its reduced so they often have plenty left.
I also make sure I check anything that has no SEL as often these items are only 1p as they have been put out too early and have not yet been programmed on the system. hth
