Tme Barred Debts - What happens to debt after 6 years?

Interesting, I rather though creditors approach was that as its not paid they can destroy your credit rating forever. How exactly would someone go about this? And should it drop off automatically?
No a creditor cannot destroy your rating forever. There are strict guidelines and they can only add on a default once for a debt and a default drops off automatically from your credit files after 6years (in practice 6years and a few days).
Of course they could potentially obtain a CCJ against a debtor and the CCJ would go on the debtors credit file for 6years from the date of the CCJ - so that could potentially extend the length of time a credit file was affected.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
