not working sunday for religious reasons- looking to change job- help needed

I'll say the same as i said a while ago to another poster, being religious is one thing, however one of the core beliefs in Christianity is the belief that God is omnipotent, he will hear your worship & prayer regardless as to your location. There's also more than one way to skin a cat, a number of church services are recorded particularly for the benefit of the elderly/infirm who cannot make it to church, it may be an idea to take use of this - adjustments can be made for certain things ofcourse, but adjustments have to be seen to be mutual.
Look into the options of alternative ministry, no doubt if you have a good clergy they will accomodate your needs - based around God's word it also says "remember the sabbath & keep it holy", does not necessarily mean that you have to go to Church so long as you seek spiritual enlightenment some way, something your minister/priest will be able to assist with. There's a number of Christians who work in positions where Sunday working is expected, by the sounds of it any "further" job would not always mean working 47 Sundays per year, so i find it more than reasonable adjustment for you to consider the options of working a Sunday as a sign of willing to potential new heads of department - could also earn you extra brownie points for showing the effort to facilitate a job switch.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

But it REALLY pi$$es Him off when you try!!:rotfl:0 -
I'm wondering what the purpose of this thread is.
So you don't want to work on a Sunday, so what? Don't apply for a job that requires it then - simple.
Obviously I could be wrong but I'm wondering whether you are putting some feelers out to see if you can put in a claim against your employer for being discriminated against on religious grounds for not being able to apply for the internal vacancies that require Sunday working?
(apologies in advance if that's not the case)0 -

IF the OP was being discriminated against in an unlawful way then there is no reason why he shouldn't make a claim.
However, AFAICS he isn't so there is no claim to be made.
Presumably you feel it would be wrong to make a claim even if the law was being broken?0 -
As has been said being a Christian is far more than going to church on Sunday morning. One of the reasons I chose the church I attend is that it has an evening service and mid week house groups so that whatever I was working I should be able to get some fellowship and teaching. We have lots of health care staff, shop workers etc who come as work allows and also our sermons are available on-line to catch up if missed.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Point 1 - I agree
Point 2 - I agree
Point 3 - don't be ridiculous0 -
to be honest I was looking for opinions and yep, thats what I got.
I'm not working sundays at the moment and thats great, I'm not necesserilly looking for a huge payrise either, just something new to learn if the chance comes up. the reason we (myself and my fiance) go to church on a sunday is because we can go together, we visit the church we are getting married in and to be honest we enjoy it.
I think there may have been a breakdown in communication, my job doesnt require me to work sundays and never has, i could and get a sunday premium, but i choose not to, i have never thought of anything legal against my current employer
i think the best thing to do is to take my time in looking for something new, i have no reason to rushWho remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0
