Hi
I am looking to leave my job that i am in now as i am activly looking for a new job.
I am currently signed off work as my knee keeps giving way and causing me to fall.
I have been off work for around a month now and i really dont want to go back now.
I would like to know if i can leave my job under medical terms as my job entails lifting heavy items etc and i cant do that with my knee the way it is.
Also would i still need to give my notice etc any help would be much appreciated

I'm not sure what you mean by this - but you can leave at any time providing you give your required contractual notice, even if you are off sick for this period.0 -
What i mean is can i tell my employer i am leaving due to medical reasonsCashBack earned to date - £1244-580

Why would you feel the need to tell him about your medical state.
All you need to do is give your notice.
Youre not leaving for medical reasons, you said you cant do the job the way your knee is, when your knee is mended you decide Or a doctor then if you can still do the job.
Its not going to look good on a reference from him if he says to a prospective employer that you left for medical reasons.
You really have to look ahead.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Generally speaking it is not a good idea to resign due to sickness for a whole number of reasons.
Even if you are not getting paid (or only getting SSP) you are still accruing paid holidays. In round figures this amounts to one day's pay for each two weeks you remain employed. When you do find a new job and resign the employer will have to pay you for the accrued holiday.0 -
Give them notice, and leave. Actively look for work whilst you are off work and hope for the best. At the end of the day you can't leave under any other circumstances if you want to leave your work on a positive. I know you have problems with your knee but unfortuately you cannot use this as an excuse not to work your notice.0

This is the best advice you are going to get.
You'd be daft not to take it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
