Christmas Cake! yummmmmmmmmmm

Just like to share i am making my christmas cake today, 2 actually! it smells devine!!!! im actually making it 10 days earlier than i did last year, cost a lot to make (think for 2 cakes the ingredients came to about £30! :eek:) but last year everyone said it was DEVINE! so it would be rude not to...
feed it every week until xmas day with 3 tablespoons of brandy! hicup! lol xxxxxxxx:j:j

Do you not decorate them then? Ive made 4 cakes. And will feed them for a couple of weeks then cover with marzipan and icing then decorate.0 -
I was early this year and made mine about 10 days ago. I made 2 yesterday and the house still has a lingering lovely smell. Must admit its the first time I've made them for years but they are presents. If it was just for me I'd buy the half price M&S one, LOL!0

yes i marzipan & ice them about the 22nd-23rd. house smells lush! just about to do second one now!0

i use the ready roled marzipan & icing thats in a circle then i just put it over the cake, (otherwise id be rubbish at icing) only at hte min its £4 a role in tesco so will cost £16 for 2 lots of icing & 2 lots of marzipan - has anyone seen any any cheeper, i have to use this icing as im hopeless at the stuff you have to role out yourself0

Sainsburys have Silver spoon ready rolled icing at £1.68 and the Dr Oetker icing at £2.49 a roll so £4.17 per cake !!! ( I use this too!!)Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0
