Hi people,
I'm new to the forum but been checking out the site for some time now and thought I would actually join and start posting!
I am travelling by train to work now and just wondered what subject I could study whilst travelling.. I have always enjoy maths but not really sure what books to study to further my knowledge.
Any suggestions would be great

Check out Open University courses. A huge variety to choose from.
Or maybe maths A level at a local college, do an evening course and use the train time to revise.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I'm learning Mandarin, but any language would do. I have things on my ipod, then also things printed out/books etc. Quite nice to dip in and out of.0

In terms of studying maths what level and kind of maths do you want to study?
If you're looking to study something which gets assessed so you get a certificate the Open University is quite good.
You can also access free courses via the OU's Openlearn section.

Well, I got a B in maths at GCSE level but I feel I could have done far better. I felt at school that the teacher wasn't great and the class had more fun messing around rather than learning and being only young 14-16 I didn't really care too much.. lol. Now that I'm 25, I realise that maths is a subject that I really enjoyed. I will look into the open university courses. I don't even know how this will benefit me in the future in regards to job etc. but just feel that rather than just travelling and not really gaining much, it would be definitely be worth furthering my education. Thanks for all your responses.0

Even if the subject itself doesn't benefit you in work, having studied something would make you a more interesting prospect for future employers. Besides that it's good to learn stuff on a personal level.0

Here's OU Maths.. http://www3.open.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/course/y162.htm and look, you've got just a week to enrol for a November start. It sounds interesting. I'd do it myself but I'm doing piano lessons this year. Maybe next when I realise that my piano playing really isn't going to improve quickly enough!0
