Sending Money to EU Countrys'

My daughter and her family of three children live in Spain. At Christmas, Birthdays and other occassions my wife and I want to send money to them. We and other members of Oxford based family Bank with Barclays who do not have internet transfer facilities and charge £20 minimum to send cash to our daughters Bank account in Alicante. Is there a cheap and secure way of sending small amounts of money within the EU.

I have a place out in Spain and regularly send money over. I found the cheapest way to do it was with the Halifax. If you open an account with them in the UK and one with Halifax Hispania (which you can do at your local branch) you can send money over with no charge and at commercial rate which is higher than tourist rate. I've been doing this for 3 years now and have never had to pay for the transfer. I also keep an eye on the exchange rates and send money when it gets higher - far as I can tell it's a win win situation!
