I have real problems with some of my sons hoodies. They just lose their shape. I recently bought him a Henleys hoodie and after 3 washes it has shrunk up and stretched out and their is no elasticity in the hem. Never tumble dry them
How do you wash and dry hoodies to stop them losing shape and have you found any makes better or worse for this.

We always wash our sons school sweatshirts and hoodies on a cold wash in the machine (dont overfill the machine or it streches sweatshirt material) with a tiny amount of soap powder and we hang them on good wooden hangers to dry away from direct heat and they last years, he out grows them instead of them ageing/shrinking/streching etc.
He wears mainly band merc. hoodies or Atticus and they all wash/last the same.

I wash them inside out to stop colour fading/motif cracking on a low wash them air dry them on wooden coat hangers. Some rule goes for my son's burgundy school sweatshirts - which he outgrows before they fade/go out of shape xxMFW - currently at £23,610 (Aug 2014) MFD 20200 -
We've got a selection of hoodies here, ranging from the cheapo Primark ones Hubby and I wear for gardening etc, the school type cotton ones for various clubs and school trips and finally the No Fear type ones my son likes, from various places. And we have school sweatshirts as well. None of them have stretched or bagged like yours. I'm wondering if you're washing them on a hot cotton type wash rather than 30'C or 40'C? All of ours usually go in the coloured wash at either of these two temperatures, then hung up on hangers in the airing cupboard to dry, much like these of the last two posters.Val.0

Never wash at more than 40 and in fact I turned the temp down to 30. Don't think I have done anything appreciable different, wondered if there was some sort of knack.0

How about trying to wash them in one of the 'mesh laundry bags' that you get from Lakeland. I think mine came in a packet with 3 different sizes. I wash things in them that I don't want to get tangled up and stretched by other items I am washing at the same time.0
