I have been wanting to get a copy of my credit report for ages, but what keeps putting me off is this, because I have moved address and left the debt behind,(almost 5 years now)if I now apply for my credit report, won't this just tip my creditors off to my whereabouts so they can start hounding me again,Im not sure on this point but Im sure someone could enlighten me,I won't even open a basic bank account, because Im too frightened of the consequences.I have 2 ccj's and although I am willing to pay these off in nice manageable monthly installments(im in a position to do this now)I keep thinking that once these people find out where I live, the bailiffs will be on the doorstep immediately wanting their pound of flesh and taking my goods without giving me a chance to sort a payment plan out.

Hi Kwaka,
I applied for a copy of my credit file about a year ago and then not long after started getting phonecalls and texts from a debt collection company. They suddenly had an ex directory number, my work number and mobile number. Some people may argue this could not happen, but as far as I'm concerned, it was no coincedence that they started calling though. I can't comment on whether or not Bailiffs will turn up at your door, but hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will be along soon to provide info on this.
Good luck

Wow Red - that certainly shouldn't happen!
I was going to say that they shouldn't be able to get your new address details ... however, given Red's circumstances I'm not so sure now.

I signed up to see my credit file and started getting letters and phone calls on a mobile that I never registered and calls on my home phone that's ex directory.
And according to what I read on a another site
Experian's latest ad to drum up some business by openly admitting they will forward ALL contact phone numbers they have on you, including WORK.
What happed to data protection?

If you request a credit report and give your new address, then which ever credit agency you use will update there files and link that to all your previous addresses, creditors will then have your new address and you will start being hounded again.0

I'm stressing my memory here, it was about a year ago and the same issue was raised by someone who had experienced some blowback from getting a credit report. As I remember it [and I could be mistaken], there was a less than full denial from the Experian rep, which led me to the conclusion that Experian probably collect a fee when certain people crop up on the radar and they tell the relevant DCArising_from_the_ashes wrote: »Wow Red - that certainly shouldn't happen!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. *UPDATE*
just done a ccj search on the registry trust and to my surprise there is only one ccj on there for £780,so,not the end of the world, will sort this out tomorrow once I have found out for sure which company it is,though I would like to get some answers to these questions
1. I have only ever had local credit(essex),so why has the CCJ been issued from Northampton ccpc?
2. Does the registry show ALL CCJ's that have EVER been issued against you,or just the ones in the last 6 years?0 -
Northampton is the 'bulk processing centre' for CCJs. The vast majority of consumer credit CCJs are done at Northamption.
Just ones were granted in the last 6years.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
A search on Registry Trust will only search one given address. If the CCJ is registered against you at another address it won't show though it will show on a credit reference search.
Without a doubt if you a request a copy of your file using the free credit reporting sites as oppose to making a statutory request for £2 your updated information is circulated.
Experian then sell your new name and address to DCA's and others under their Autotrace product. (google it as I can't post a link)
