'green' washing powder?

Soap nuts are a good idea. You can buy them for £10.99 for 1kg http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001DHVUTY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=AZJADFZJS9SRB and they will last for around 260 washes. When they are 'spent' you can compost them if you are able to - they can be put onto the garden straight as they are as the soap they will still contain a bit of is a way of keeping insects etc away. They work out as around 3-6p a wash.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0

Ecoballs! Plastic balls with foam around the edge that look a bit like spaceships :-P
The pellets inside oxygenise the water and removes dirt. I was sceptical but they really do work!A Bag A Month Challenge member0
