  • Agreed. 6.3% here on savings.

I was just concerned about proving long-term saving. I know this is a requirement for some banks, i.e having proof of your savings,

Personally I would consider this a minor issue in the overall scheme of things. The financial landscape has changed somewhat since you left a few years back. Lenders are far tougher when it comes to underwriting mortgages than back then.

I would transfer some money back as the exchange rate from AUD to GBP is good at the moment. ALso- if you return before april, you may have to pay tax on any money you sent back to the UK- I'm not quite sure how this works but there is something about returning with money before the end of the tax year. Wouldnt be worth it with a substantial sum like that.
You may still be hard pushed to find something for 200k in Formby???????

  • Yeah Formby is unrealistic, especially for that sort of money. Crosby is more realistic. We are hoping to try and save more.

I think renting for six months is the best solution. I can also transfer a large sum of money from Australia when the time is right. The interest rates are far superior here so leaving the money here makes more sense.

    Thks
