German and Greek Civil Servants

Just heard on the BBC that the average Greek civil servant earns 15,000 euros pa more than his German equivalent. If this is true, no wonder the German electorate are getting increasingly itchy about bailing them out.

Not to mention the difference in retirement ages: Germans at 67, Greece at 55.

Perhaps the Greeks should be bailing the Germans out.

they also mentionned the greeks should never have been in the euro, and that 25% had lost their jobs or taken a 30% pay cut, and are being forced (for the first time ever) to pay tax.

The problem is it has all come at once so they are having a hard time with accpeting it.

I didn't say they should be allowed to not accept it- just that it is hard for it all to come at once.

Look at the riots in france not so long ago when they were told to work over 60? Imgaine, we are all on our way to 67 with no riots in sight lol.
