Welcome to the boards! Some excellent advice so far, and I would concur with everyone else - get rid of your highest % debts first before you even start tackling the mortgage.
Just some quick comments on your SOA - your mobiles seem excessively high for two people. OH and I have 2 smart phones (1 each), both have 500 mins, unlimited text and unlimited (500MB) data = £17.50 pm for both of us (not each).
The satellite/cable is extremely high, can you change your package or threaten to leave? I'm sure you could half. £600 for haircuts a year also seems high, a fella can always go to a barbers once a month for a tenner, and the ladies can go for a style which only needs cutting every 2-3 months. And the last main priority for me would be the food at £400 for 2 people. We spend c£300 for family of 3, and if you spend some time on the Old Style boards, there are a lot lower figures than that (try £120 for 2!). If you could halve you'd have an extra £200pm... I estimate if you change these 4 things you could save at least £315pm.
Good luck!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
OPs 2011-2016 = £45K 2017 OPs = £9250.200 -
Well what have i been upto !!!
managed to o/p secured mortgage by £70 this month !
bonus. im sticking to o/p this as i fell this gives me the chance to reduce the term greatly and falls into line whith the other debts, aim is to have them all away within 4 years freeing up approx £1000.
credit cards have slowly crept up with silly things, but oh said she would do some o/t and that should take care of them.
also my new car has cut my petrol spend drasticly from £200 - £100, which is a rsult , although the heted seats are missed now its the winter !!0 -
Has it really been 10 months sine i posted to this !!
well what has happened in this time !
Was told in january that we were coming off shifts which was a 42% reduction in salary
I have started a new role, on a slighlty increased salary not enough to make the £600 shortfall.
applying the finishing touches to my SVQ level 3 ( for what use it will be)
We had the excitement of finding out we were going to be parents, unfortunatley that only lasted a week !! not the end of the world but has set us back.
unfortunatley our credit cards have risen drmatically, Venice, T in the park tickets and various other stupid spends.
we think we have turned the corner and are managing to control our spending again, so fingers crossed credit card will dissapear again ( second job permitting)0
