United Press Ltdare delighted to invite FREE entries for the UK’s annual contest to find the best local poem, and we will be giving £1,000 cash to the winner!

Anyone can submit up to three poems for the competition. There’s no age limit and no entry fee.

Your poem can be about something or someone from your home area. It can be descriptive, romantic, historic, factual or personal – in fact anything you like – as long as there is a local connection.

Winning entries for the Local Poem Competition in the past have been about towers, a river, village life and local history.

This competition is open to anyone and is completely free to enter – so what have you got to lose?

You can submit up to three poems, or no more than 25 lines (including spaces) and 160 words each,
